Bike fitting service will be closed in late June due to attendance at the “Science & Cycling in Italy” bicycle conference.
Science & Cycling, a conference on sport cycling, is held every year in the starting city of the Tour de France.
This year it will be held in Florence, Italy. I(Makito) will be going to participate again this year, so I will not be offering bike fitting service in late June. I apologize for the inconvenience. If you are in a hurry to get a bike fitting, I recommend that you get one before then.
I have tried to attend one of the sports cycling conferences or symposiums every year as much as possible since 2013.
This I have attended Science & Cycling in 2016 and 2022. Each time there are basic kinesiology research presentations, coaching, and an agenda about sport bicycling and its environment. Although the conference is only 2 days in duration, it is very rich in content.
I have learned a lot about time trial/triathlon position and form formation at these conferences and workshops, and have been able to provide feedback to many of my customers at my bike fitting service and at the training sessions for professionals that I organize.
Although not at this conference, I am reminded of the effects of short cranks, a hot topic at past symposiums where basic research was presented. And this year, that athlete used it and won the Giro d’Italia outright. Of course there are some negative points about short cranks, but I think the benefits outweigh them.
It seems to me that the coaches had a flexible mindset. When someone succeeds, it is quickly recognized by the public. In terms of equipment, bike frame sloping, wider tires, narrower handlebars, inward facing brake bracket positions, etc. I don’t know about bike frame sloping in equipment, as that was a long time ago when I went to conferences, but a lot of what I see these days is based on I am sure that new ideas will be realized in the future.
